“Perspectives on Venture Capital” – An overview of venture capital in the Midwest and perspectives on the process from both sides of the table. Speakers include: *Paul Batcheller of Prairie Gold Venture Partners (Sioux Falls) a venture capital fund, with two funds under management, targeting the Midwest. Paul will share his perspective on the capital markets in the Midwest and his experiences investing in Omaha. *Darren Blakely of Transcentrix, which successfully attracted venture capital from outside the region, grew the company and achieved a successful exit event. Darren, who with his partners is on to his next start-up, Vendorin, will share his experiences on attracting capital to Omaha, expanding a company and positioning for a sale. *Dave Glover of Game Plan Technologies, an Omaha company that is backed by Prairie Gold. She has managed the organization's Capital Campaign, culminating in over $1.7 Million for build-out and start-up costs of the Ruth Sokolof Theater, cultivated relationships with other organizations, built Film Streams' board of advisers and board of directors, and overseen the design, build out, and launch of Film Streams 2-screen cinema, which opened on July 27, 2007. Morgan Chase. Prior to joining First National Bank of Omaha in September 2005, as President of First National Credit Card Center and subsequent appointment to President of First National Bank in June 2006, Mr. Johri served as EVP at J.P. Morgan Chase in New York where he was responsible for leading marketing and strategy for their credit card business. From 1985-1999, Mr. Johri held several general management positions within Citigroup in the areas of Branch Banking, Credit Cards, Consumer Mortgages, Student Loans and Insurance. While at Citigroup, Mr. Johri lived and worked in India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore and New York. TOPIC: "THE LATINO ENGAGEMENT IN OMAHA” Program presented by: Juan C Picón, Business Banking Specialist, Wells Fargo Bank NA Picon will talk about the types of businesses in South Omaha and their owners. His presentation will include general information about the Latino community and the population, including their business needs. Come learn how you can engage businesses in South Omaha. Juan Picon, an immigrant himself, joined Wells Fargo Bank NA in 2005. He has just been named the Financial Services Champion of the Year by the Small Business Administration for his work in the Latino and immigrant community. He was selected as Champion of the Year for Nebraska and SBA’s Region VII, which includes Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa and Kansas. He began his career in Colombia, after earning a degree in industrial engineering. Picon, who is bilingual, is active in the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and serves on the board of the Heartland Latino Leadership Conference & Expo, Credit Advisors and Better Business Bureau (Nebraska). He is co-founder and president of Colombianos Unidos en Nebraska. Picon teaches bilingual classes as part of the microbusiness program at the Juan Diego Center, University of Nebraska at Omaha and he helps newly arrived immigrants learn what it takes to start a business in the United States.
